USS John Basilone to move its homeport to Rota this autumn
"U.S. Fleet Forces Command has announced that the guided-missile destroyer USS John Basilone (DDG 122) will move from Mayport, Florida, to Naval Station Rota in autumn 2026. No exact arrival date has been announced."
A homeport change announced by the Navy
The announcement, dated 30 September, concerns a change of homeport rather than a port visit. Seapower Magazine has also published the Fleet Forces Command release, confirming the move to Rota this autumn.
An Arleigh Burke-class destroyer
John Basilone is a Flight IIA destroyer with capabilities for missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and maritime interdiction. It bears the name of a U.S. Marine who received the Medal of Honor.
The release does not specify the day of arrival or provide details of arrangements for the crew and their families.
